DISNEY the LION KING is offering FREE ONLINE ACTING LESSONS!!!!
Disney Theatrical Productions has made their Lion King-themed curriculum free for families during the pandemic. The curriculum, split into a "Kids" edition aimed at kids aged 8-11 and a "Jr." edition for adolescents aged 12-15, was originally designed to accompany a school's production of the show and is generally taught in classrooms. But Disney has now adapted the 45-minute lessons for families to enjoy at home. What's more, they're offering both for free.
To dive in, families can head over to LionKingExperience.com, then download either the KIDS curriculum (11 sessions) or the JR curriculum (18) at home-learning modifications, then follow the instructions in the PDFs to link to the accompanying videos and resources. Each session comes with a video intro from Jelani Remy and Syndee Winters, who starred in the Broadway production of The Lion King. Then, parents and their children are encouraged to explore the topic individually and create a related project, such as a birthday card for Simba, an original song, a lighting design concept, or a theatrical mask. Finally, students can share their work with people in their home and reflect in a journal that they'll create in their first session. At the end of the course, they'll receive a completion certificate to celebrate their hard work.

Music Activity
TRY OUT FLIPGRID! LOTS OF POTENTIAL WITH THIS WEBSITE... WHO KNOWS WHAT WE COULD DO WITH IT IN THE FUTURE! FOR NOW, LET'S START OFF EASY AND DO SOMETHING FUN.
Take the melody of Twinkle, Twinkle and change the words to make your own song! Video yourself (on Flipgrid) singing your new song. Use the link below.
Guidelines: Look into the camera! Be aware of what you are wearing & your background. You can do this individually or with a sibling that goes to Stinson. You are welcome to add instruments (shakers, spoons, pencils, tapping on plastic cups, the cup game, etc.) Be as creative as you want! Keep it school appropriate please. Use your BEST SINGING VOICE! Last, ALWAYS keep your comments positive!
It's time to think about RHYTHM. See how well you remember your rhythms. I think you should be proud of yourself! Way to go... you are working on your music skills!!! NEXT WEEK there will be an OPTIONAL QUIZ about the rhythms so be sure and review.
Activity 2 (10 Minutes)
Now it's time to explore something new! Log onto FlipGrid and respond to one of my questions. Use your Plano ISD email address... and be sure you have parent approval.
Hello 5th GRADERS! Try to sing along with the video. You should remember hearing this song in 3rd grade. Is it written in a Major key, or a minor key?
Activity 2 (7-10 Minutes)
Hello darlin's! Here are two of our favorite videos from this year! Remember, all songs are written to convey the emotion behind them. Typically, when a songwriter wants to write a HAPPY song, they write it using a Major key ( do tonal center - do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, do'). If a songwriter wants to write a sad song, they use a minor key ( la tonal center - la, ti, do, re, mi, fa, so, la').
Activity 3 (10 Minutes)
Now it's time to practice your Rhythm skills with this FUN online game!
Sing Along with Bonavist Harbor and Yankee Doodle.
Activity 2 [3-10 Minutes]
Hey gang! Here is a new activity for you. Follow my lead in the video. Practice your rhythms.... with a song you know from the radio. Give it a try! Ideally, you should try this at least twice.
Activity 3 [10 Minutes] Play the Whack a Note Game! This game is a little slow at the start... but it gets FAST. It also really gets the treble clef notes in your head and ready to recall next year when you are at Otto MS!
HI 5TH GRADERS! I MISS YOU SOOOOO MUCH! I hope you are all doing well and taking good care of yourselves. Looking forward to sharing some fun Music lessons and activities with you. I PROMISE there is a reason for this activity. It is a SHORT review for you so that we can discuss a concept you will need next year in 6th grade. Just sing along with the first video. After you sing with it, you can watch the second video that explains the meaning of the song. (Just try and get the song in your head so we can discuss it next week.)
Activity 2 [10 Minutes]
NEXT... TEST YOURSELF! PLAY THE TREBLE CLEF GAME AND SEE IF YOU CAN MAKE A PERFECT SCORE!
